Our Mission
The HBACA PAC has a three-fold mission - to Protect Jobs, Keep Families Strong, and Preserve Arizona's Unique Way of Life. We accomplish this by working to elect legislators, city council members and other government officials who are supportive of the home building community. We also communicate with elected officials through our Grassroots Network to ensure they understand how their decisions affect home building and economic development. Finally, the PAC works on your behalf to pass or defeat legislation and ballot propositions that will have a positive or negative effect on home building, growth, the economy, education or any other issues that affect quality of life.
Protecting JobsThe HBACA PAC’s first and foremost goal is to protect jobs. New home construction provides thousands of Arizonans with good, well-paying jobs. In addition to builders themselves, home building creates work for many other trades and professions including carpet and tile installers, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, architects, engineers, landscapers, interior designers, mortgage bankers…the list is endless. The HBACA PAC leads the fight, challenging any bills or ballot initiatives that threaten to take away good jobs from Arizona families.
Keeping Families StrongWhat keeps a family strong? Many things contribute to a strong, stable family including good jobs for the adults; a quality education for the kids; access to affordable healthcare; and a comfortable home at a fair price. The HBACA PAC works on your behalf to promote a healthy economy, good schools and affordable healthcare and housing.
Preserving Arizona’s Way of LifeHigh-rise apartments, sky-high rents, crowded sidewalks, noisy streets, bumper to bumper traffic from morning till night -- this is “home” to residents of cities such as New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Here in Arizona we enjoy a more relaxed, less crowded way of life -- a backyard for the kids, space for mom’s garden and dad’s hobbies, and plenty of room to grow into. The HBACA PAC works hard to protect Arizona's way of life. In 2000, for example, the HBACA PAC led the charge to defeat Prop. 202 – an anti-growth initiative that posed a massive threat to the home building community, and to Arizona’s comfortable way of life. If Prop. 202 had passed, many families would have lost good paying jobs; and we all would have been forced to live in concrete jungles like the big cities on the east and west coasts. Although we may enjoy visiting places like Los Angeles or New York, most of us choose to live here in Arizona because we love our state’s less crowded and more relaxed way of life. By working together, we defeated Prop. 202 by a more than two-to-one margin.
